etwas goes with “-es”

A common phrasing people use is something [adjective]. Like something big or something funny or something strong.

In German, that is etwas (or just was in spoken German) and the ending on the adjective is always “-es”

  • something big
  • etwas großes

Forgetting the “-es” is a common mistake, but it sounds really bad because the rhythm is different.

No need to think about grammar, just add -es.
Oh and that goes for comparisons, too.

  • something better
  • etwas besseres
